Nursery Room Leader (Early Years)

🎯 Purpose of the Role

To lead a nursery room (baby, toddler, or preschool), wile also taking the first step in to management. Ensuring high-quality care, learning, and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

👶 Childcare & Development

• Plan and deliver engaging activities based on EYFS
• Monitor, assess, and record children’s development
• Support children’s emotional, social, and physical needs

👩‍🏫 Room Leadership

• Lead and supervise a team of nursery practitioners
• Delegate tasks and support staff development
• Maintain staff ratios and daily organisation

🛡️ Safeguarding & Welfare

• Ensure children’s safety and wellbeing at all times
• Follow safeguarding policies and procedures
• Report concerns in line with legal requirements

📝 Administration

• Maintain accurate records (learning journeys, observations)
• Ensure compliance with Ofsted standards
• Manage daily room routines and planning

👨‍👩‍👧 Parent Partnerships

• Build strong relationships with parents/carers
• Provide feedback on children’s progress
• Support settling-in processes

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare
• Experience working in a nursery setting
• Strong knowledge of EYFS
• Experience supporting or leading a team

Desirable:

• Paediatric First Aid
• Safeguarding training
• Previous Room Leader or Senior Practitioner experience
